Tamper-evident hash-chain ledger
Every entry — receive, administer, dispose, adjust — is cryptographically linked to the one before it. Edits and deletes are blocked at the database. The chain itself proves nothing was altered.
Pawprints Vetlogs was designed by a veterinarian who has practiced both in a clinic and on the road. It does one job — DEA-compliant controlled-substance recordkeeping — and does it without the bloat, the contracts, or the surprise price hikes the big platforms are known for. $50 per user, per month. That’s the rate. We don’t plan on changing it.
No credit card to start. Month-to-month. Export your data on the way out — it’s yours.
The big practice-management platforms keep growing — more features you didn’t ask for, longer contracts, and renewal letters with a new number on them every year. That cost lands somewhere. Often it lands on the vet, who is already underpaid. Just as often it lands on the client, who hears “veterinary care is expensive” and assumes the vet is the one getting rich.
We built Pawprints because controlled-substance recordkeeping is non-negotiable, but the software for it shouldn’t require a sales call, a year-long contract, or a private-equity exit. Our founder has practiced in a brick-and-mortar clinic and run a mobile route. The product reflects both. The pricing reflects what a working vet can actually afford.
Pawprints is independently owned. There is no parent conglomerate quietly preparing the next price hike. The published rate today is the rate we plan to hold. If we ever have to raise it, existing customers keep their current price for at least twenty-four months. In writing.
Designed and used daily by a practicing veterinarian who’s done both clinic and house-call work.
One job, done well. No calendar, no billing, no clinical-notes upsell you’ll never use.
No VC, no conglomerate, no quarterly board pressure to invent a new fee.
We stripped out the calendar, the billing, the clinical notes — and built a drug log that does one job, beautifully, on any device.
Every entry — receive, administer, dispose, adjust — is cryptographically linked to the one before it. Edits and deletes are blocked at the database. The chain itself proves nothing was altered.
DEA Form 41-aligned witness flow with 4-digit PINs (PBKDF2-SHA256, salted, 3-strike lockout). On-site destruction and recall workflows capture both signatures in seconds.
Installable PWA. Log administrations on a tablet in a barn, a horse trailer, or a basement with no signal. Entries queue locally and reconcile to the chain when you reconnect.
Generate an inspector-ready PDF covering any date range. Bottle-level reconciliation, biennial inventory, witness records, and chain verification — all in one export.
House-call vets carry their own bottles assigned to them. Brick-and-mortar practices share a pool. Toggle the mode per practice — the schema supports both natively.
We apply the strictest of federal and your state's controlled-substance rules automatically. Witness thresholds, BUD limits, biennial dates — configured per practice.
FDA or manufacturer recall? Mark affected lots, quarantine bottles across the practice, and document destruction with the same witnessed, hash-chained ledger entries.
Three tiers — practice admin, veterinarian, technician. Technicians can administer; only vets can dispose or adjust. Row-level security at the database, not just the UI.
A drug log is only as good as the day someone tries to prove it wrong. We assume the worst — a lost tablet, a disgruntled ex-employee, a DEA inspector — and engineer for it.
Your records are append-only at the database itself. The hash chain detects any post-hoc edit. Your data is replicated across regions and snapshotted daily. If we ever go away, you walk away with a verifiable copy.
Pawprints runs perfectly on its own — that’s how most of our customers use it. If you already have a practice-management system, our open API and CSV import let you keep your patient list in sync without paying for a separate integration tier.
No proprietary lockers. No required hardware. No vendor lock-in. Your data exports as plain CSV and signed PDF, any time you ask.
Every feature on this page is included on every plan. Bulk pricing kicks in automatically once you cross five seats. If we ever have to raise our rate, existing customers keep their current price for at least twenty-four months. We put it in the terms of service so you can hold us to it.

Compare to legacy PMS modules at $150–$300 per user, or to controlled- drug log incumbents quoting $3,000–$25,000 per practice per year. We do one thing — and we charge accordingly.
Pour your last paper log into Pawprints in an afternoon. The next inspection takes one click. No contract, no locker, no surprise renewal letter.
